Performance
You'll be
able to jet around quickly in Aiea with the new Ford Escape. It comes standard
with a turbocharged 181-horsepower three-cylinder engine that produces 190
pound-feet of torque, but three other powertrains are available, including:
- Turbocharged 250-horsepower four-cylinder
engine that makes 280 pound-feet of torque
- 192-horsepower
hybrid motor (ST-Line and higher trims)
- 210-horsepower
plug-in hybrid engine (PHEV trim)
The gas-only
engines mate with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but hybrid and plug-in
hybrid versions come with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Honolulu drivers who want to minimize fuel costs will like that the plug-in
hybrid Escape can travel about 37 miles on electric power only. All new Ford
Escape models deliver a gentle, quiet ride thanks to their well-tuned
suspension. Light steering and strong brakes make the Escape a breeze to maneuver
on curvy roads.
Exterior Design
Ford
revised the Escape's front end, giving it a wider, more squared-off grille.
ST-Line models add a sporty appearance package with a bold spoiler, unique
wheels, and painted rocker panels that make them stand out from other
crossovers in Aiea.
